I don't know... it's how they used to draw her in WOW, and it's similar to the hairstyle Shirley Temple sported as a teeny-bopper.

What a great Mary Marvel! YOu should be drawing her. She and the early Supergirl are the big inpsirations for my character, GoGirl!
PS: that front roll hairstyle was called a pompadour.

Wow. I just now finally got around to reading X-Men First Class #3, and I googled your name to see if you had a web site where I could check out more of your work. And I was thinking of checking if you ever do commissions because I thought your style would work great for my collection... of Mary Marvel sketches! Again, wow! Nice job. Paul is a lucky guy.
